The Horse, 2026 Black ink and graphite on paper
This drawing arrived with the Year of the Horse — a time I found myself returning to questions about trust, intuition, and what it means to let something unfold rather than force it. I was going through my own transition when I made this piece, and the drawing became a way of sitting with that — authenticity, patience, the willingness to follow an inner compass even when the direction isn't obvious yet.
Horses have carried us across the long history of our movement through the world. They are figures of sensitivity and strength, of trust made visible — the animal that chose to stand beside us, whose body is so attuned that its heart will slow to match a calm human's. In myth and memory, the horse has stood for freedom, intuition, and the kind of knowing that moves through the body before it reaches the mind.
