The Owl — Inner Sight
The Owl 2026 — Black ink and watercolor on paper
This piece began as a return.
The first version of the Owl was originally created for the owner of Café Jardim, whose Power Animal is the Owl. She is from Hawaii, and that became the starting point for the composition — an owl surrounded by flora inspired by the islands, carrying a sense of lushness, color, ocean, and tropical life.
Café Jardim also holds a special place in my own story. It was where I had my first solo exhibition in October 2025, and where I first saw all of my Power Animal portraits gathered together in one space. Recreating the Owl on a larger scale felt like honoring that threshold — a portal into the art journey that has continued unfolding since then.
For this version, I wanted the Owl to feel more alive. I introduced gold for the first time, drawn to the way it contrasts with the black ink and brings a sense of light, warmth, and quiet illumination. The blue is connected to the ocean, while the pink speaks to the flowers and vibrant flora of Hawaii.
As a Power Animal, the Owl carries the energy of inner sight, intuition, observation, and wisdom. She sees what is hidden beneath the surface. She listens before moving. She reminds us that not everything needs to be revealed in full light to be trusted.
