She has been walking with me for many years.
I first met her in the Serengeti in 2017 as a living presence. I remember watching her resting on a rock, surrounded by the reds, golds, and heat of the savannah. There was something about her stillness that stayed with me. She didn't need to prove anything. She simply was.
Since then, the Lioness has become my Power Animal — the one I return to when I need to remember what I already know.
This piece began as a portrait and became something more personal: a way of honoring the qualities she has taught me over time. That courage is not always loud. That strength can be quiet. That presence is a form of power. That taking up space is not something to apologize for.
The colors came from the savannah — reds, golds, and deep purples. Three shades chosen before a single mark was made, carried through every detail of the piece.
The Lioness is one of the most ancient symbols of feminine strength. Across cultures and traditions, she represents sovereignty, protection, and the kind of inner authority that leads from the heart rather than from force. She is the guardian who acts only when necessary, the mother who protects without hesitation, the one whose stillness holds more power than any roar.
She is here now. And in many ways, she has been here all along.
