The Owl, 2025 Black ink and graphite on paper
This drawing began with someone whose power animal was the owl. She was from Hawaii, and as the piece took shape I found myself bringing in elements of Hawaiian flora — a way of letting her landscape live alongside the bird. The owl has always carried a sense of attentive stillness for me: the kind of presence that watches without needing to act. That quiet attention shaped the rhythm of the linework throughout.
